Serving Knox County Since 1987

Knox County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987 when Habitat for Humanity’s founder, Millard Fuller visited First Congregational United Church of Christ here in Mt. Vernon. Inspired by his message, members of the church chartered a fully volunteer driven Habitat affiliate.

Since 1987, Knox County Habitat has served over 25 families through partnership to provide safe, decent, and affordable housing. In the early 2000's, we opened our 1st ReStore location with the goal of generating revenue to fund additional builds and in 2014 hired our first Director to continue to grow our organization.

We strive to serve Knox County through providing affordable home ownership opportunities, A Brush with Kindness projects, and providing quality and affordable merchandise at our ReStore.
